So CNN reported shortly that McDonald's is competing with Burger King over the meatless burger... Truth is McDonald's has had vegan and vegetarian plant-based meat options for quite some time now, 2012 to be exact. In fact, has a menu targeting vegetarians in India according to BBC News. And also have there Lyfe Kitchen brand which features a meatless menu. So is McDonald's competing with Burger King, or introducing their meatless patty they refer to PLT (Plant, Lettuce, and Tomatoes) to McDonald's customers in North America? And why is the competition aiming at Burger King and not Carl's Junior? Carl's Junior started their Beyond Meat campaign long before Burger King entered the space? And they are all in the QSR business! Will this lead KFC, Chick Filet and Popeyes to incorporate gardein to their menu's? From an investment perspective, there has been no better time than this to invest in QSR's and food industry. From an entertainment perspective, this is the time for artist and athletes to be a part of those marketing dollars and invest in their futures. Can't wait to see what the market brings next quarter!
